Which Air Conditioning Solution Is Right For Your Business?

When you start your own business, one consideration is heating and cooling. Offering cooling during the hot summer months keeps employees happy and productive. However, there are many different types of air conditioning solutions, so you may not know which one is right for your company. Check out these three popular choices.

Package System

A package system refers to a central air-conditioning system that is packaged in one unit. The unit is stored outside. Depending on the size and location of your business, it may be stored on the roof or on a cement slab on the ground besides the building. The system connects to the heating ducts and uses them to spread cold air. Package systems are incredibly effective at quickly cooling your business, but because they are expensive, they may not be right for new small businesses. The downside, however, is that a lot of cold air can escape through the ductwork before it reaches you and your employees.

Split System

If your current building doesn't have ductwork, you can add it, but it is expensive. A less expensive option is to install a split-system air conditioning unit. It still has an outdoor unit placed on the roof or a slab of cement. Inside the building are other units that expel the cool air. They are connected by tubes and wires instead of ducts, making them more efficient. The system works by cooling gas until it becomes a liquid in the exterior unit. This liquid is sent to the indoor units, and it is used to cool the air.

Heat Pump

If you live in an environment with mild summers, you may want to consider installing a heat pump. They are affordable to install, but the biggest benefit is the monthly savings. They are incredibly energy efficient. Heat pumps work by pulling cold air from outside and pushing it inside. During the winter, they pull warm air from outside and push it inside. Some systems pull from the air, but others pull from the ground, which creates more effective results. A heat pump can also heat your business, but depending on where you live, you may need a backup furnace for exceptionally cold winters.

Your employees will work harder if they are more comfortable, so make sure you have adequate cooling during the hot months. There are many cooling options, so get the right one for you and your business's needs. For more information, contact a commercial air conditioning specialist in your area today.
